Hi to you all,

Retired old couple planning their investments with a financial consultant

Now it is time to plan what assistance you need.

At this stage, having worked through my 20 tips, you will be just about at a point where your move is nearly a reality. Now it is time to gather the troops! You will need to work out who you need to help you. Create a list, call them all, have fixed quotes in place and book them all in…

Sounds a bit daunting? It needn’t be! Grab a pen and lets work out who can help…

Here is a list of suggestions and some helpful links;

De-clutterers

You can employ them to do your whole house or just one cupboard! Time and stress saving,   Try…  Small Things Home   Decluttering Diva

Packers & Unpackers

I really recommend employing packers! They take away so much stress and hassle on one of the most stressful events you can experience. Don’t be afraid to insist on careful marking on all your boxes so you can find what you need at the other end. Try…  The Finishing Touch

Removalists

A good removalist will make your move a much better experience. Personal recommendations are always better. Some Villages have a preferred removalist and will sometimes include them in your deal. Check to see if Insurance is included in their price and ask for a time frame for the move. Try…Australian Furniture Removers Association

There are some wonderful companies out there who work with you from the early stage of locating your new home right the way through to after your move. Try ….Downsizing with Ease

Builders, Painters, Plumbers & Electricians

For these sorts of trades, you need to do careful homework. It is always recommended that you get 3 quotes for any job but sometimes that is hard to achieve! I suggest going to the relevant professional organisation…

Master Builders Association  Master Painters Australia  Master Electricians

Or try a good search engine like Licensed Trades or ask for recommendations.

Carpenters/Kitchen fitters/Wardrobe Fitters

These trades are very location dependent. Personal recommendations are again best. Check out your local Homemaker Centre. For fitted furniture and kitchens it is best to see a showroom for examples of what you are buying. If you are hiring a carpenter, they can supply you with samples of finishes and timber types they intend to use and should be able to show you drawings of what you are getting.

For smaller jobs you could try …Hire a Hubby   Jim’s Services

Soft Furnishings & Carpets

Check out the local Homemakers Centre or Local Area Shops. Chains such as Carpet Court or Material World are nationwide and generally competitively priced using local contractors. You can also try Online search engines for your local area such as Yelp…Carpets Yelp  Soft Furnishings Yelp

Buyers Agents

A buyers Agent can help you find your new home by doing all the legwork for you. They can act on your behalf during the purchasing process and put you in touch with good legal advice for all aspects of your move. Try Mayfield Property .

Interior Designers

An Interior Designer can help you to create a lovely new home from all that you love about where you live now. Please don’t hesitate to  contact me HERE for further information . Or read my post HERE about why you should use an Interior Designer when you downsize!

In the next of the series I will talk about creating a timeline for all the jobs you need to do.
