Hello and welcome …….

Having spent the last 30 years working in Interior Design I have learned a thing or two!

During my many years of design experience in several different arenas, I have developed a  passion for repurposing. I have developed clever systems for making the most of your space, saving you unnecessary expense and waste by not having to buy everything new.

I understand that it can be a challenge changing or leaving your family home or even a familiar office. I understand that change needs a blend of practical and emotional adjustment. I can show you how to let things go with grace and find that change can be a good thing.

You will settle in feeling relieved and re-energised!

My 4-step system takes you gracefully through the process and ensures that you are in control of every part of your move or redesign, with an experienced guide right beside you all the way.

Why I do what I do…

Over the past 25 years I have moved home 14 times! Some have been good moves, some not so good…

This has been a challenge on both a personal and professional level. I have moved as  single person, part of a couple, with babies, toddlers, as a single mum and with teenagers. Each move involved change at some level and I have experienced the need to adapt and modify the way I live.

Many of these moves have been with the same furniture and furnishings, I have learned how to re-use and re-purpose, mostly from necessity but sometimes from sentiment!

Don’t get me wrong…as an Interior Designer I love to buy new things ! However I have been increasingly aware of the need to re-use and recycle to avoid waste and unnecessary expenditure and help our overburdened planet.

Through Downsize.Design.Refine. I hope to be able to give others the benefit of my experience creating new homes or meeting new needs in their lives.

I’ll help you move into a new home or office or refresh the one you have

  • It’s about changing house but taking the home with you…
  • It’s about designing your new space in a way that captures the essence of everything you love about where you live or work now.
  • It’s about re-purposing your existing furniture and possessions in exciting and innovative ways and curating your things to live in a new way.
  • It’s about re-using as many things as possible. You don’t need to spend a lot of money to set up a beautiful new home or office.
  • It’s about gently releasing some much loved items, a process that might involve some sadness but ultimately brings with it an unexpected sense of peace.

I’ll walk beside you through the process of change…

I’m here as an Interior Designer, sharing my thoughts about how wonderful your favourite things might look set-up in a brand new way. I can guide you on furniture placement and decoration and find ways to maximise the livability and style in your new home—not to my personal style but to yours. I won’t tell you what to discard and what to keep—that’s your decision. I’m not here to rush you—I understand this is a big event in your life.

As we work closely together,  I’ll take the heartache out of change and help you adjust practically and emotionally. We’ll find a way to let go of things with grace where necessary and create a lovely new home.

I won’t try to sell you things you don’t need! I don’t make money by selling you anything. I charge you for my time and there are no hidden costs.

If you need to buy new I specify the items I recommend and liaise with the vendors on your behalf but the sale is between you and them.
